Scar Tissue Release Therapy

It's Just a Scar ... or Is IT?

Have you ever had a ...

  • Surgery
    • Breast augmentation, reduction or reconstruction
    • Broken bones
    • Surgical removal, replacement, reconstruction of any other part of the body
  • Automobile accident
  • Burns
  • Disfiguring diseases

Then you have scar tissue and or adhesions. While not every scar presents a problem, many do, and sometimes those problems are explained with a "it's just a scar". If you are having pain, tingling, numbness, lack of range of motion or any other issue whether, Scar tissue release therapy may help.

If you or someone you know has a scar, then you are probably only too aware of the impact scars can have, physically and emotionally. Despite this, scars are a common and under-managed problem, especially in the United States. More than 100 million people acquire new scars each year. Scars are often considered trivial, yet scars can be not only esthetically distressing, and disfiguring they can be psychologically and functionally disabling as well.

People with visible scars often face unwanted questions, loss of anonymity and are avoided or shunned by others. They feel self-conscious and anxious in social situations, lose confidence and end up suffering from low self esteem, isolation and feelings of helplessness.

There is good news! I am now accepting scar cases for anyone who is impacted by visible or non-visible (internal scarring). Scar work appointments will go fast, so please let me know early on if you are interested in working with me.

A scar session starts at 15 minutes and is intensive focus on the area in question. Obviously, due to the nature of scarring and the fact that there are so many ways to get them, treatment of scars is individual as well. A scar treatment session can be added to any regularly scheduled massage. Scar release therapy can not be done within 90 days of scar formation, however lymphatic massage can be done to decrease inflammation during this time period. Upon initial assessment, you will be advised as to how long and how frequently your sessions will need to be.
